Doyle McCormack at the throttle of Nickel Plate Road 765

While he's best known for his work on Southern Pacific steam locomotive no. 4449, Doyle McCormack's first love was the Nickel Plate Road. His father worked for the railroad and his first cab ride on steam was aboard No. 743, a sister to our very own 765. Before serving as a consultant on the initial restoration of Nickel Plate Road steam locomotive no. 765 in the mid-1970s, Doyle served on the ...

Beautiful sounding horn!
What is the steam coming from the side of the boiler up front coming from? It's surprising that it doesn't all come out of the smoke stack.
I love how the sound reverberates
Can You Please Put PRR 1361’s Whistle On Top Of The Secondary Whistle?
The mars light on NKP #358 works great
NKP #358 and #765 make a good team. A freshly restored SD9 and berkshire pulling a train. Thanks Progress Rail for restoring the SD9 back to NKP colors
These locomotives were built to tackle the grades solo or Doublehead on these kind of runs just like the articulated locomotives did with heavy freight. Nothing can stop the power of steam.
12:37 It Sounds Like PRR Q2 Whistle
I use that whistle for my Bachmann HO scale J3a Hudson model, and it fits it wonderfully. It’s loud and booming, and it conveys the same sense of power and strength that the real J3a Hudsons were often associated with. The real J3a Hudsons wore whistles of the same type as the Nathan 6 chime on 765, and it’s clear to see why. They’re beautiful whistles that sound great on both freight and passenger locomotives.
I use that whistle on my J3a Hudson locomotive model, and it fits really nicely. It perfectly conveys that sense of strength, power, and prestige that the J3a Hudsons and S2 Berkshires carried in real life. I couldn’t think of any better a whistle for such beautiful and massive engines. It’s even prototypical to the J3as, mainly because the NYC’s Hudsons (along with most of their other large passenger locomotives) wore Nathan long-bell 6 chimes.
Hi very nice. Thank you 🌹🌹🌹🌹
Just love that sound
Send the train to Sweden, we have so fucking bad trains they newer comes in time or never comes 😂😂😂
Beautiful chug and whistle !
Ahhhhh the sound of the Berk... NKP 765
Would love to do Throttle time with 765 this year hopefully since 611 is down for maintenance
Now we need a photo charter of both of them pulling freights! ;D
A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
765 always puts on such a good show!
Hope you guys got the branches off the bell 🤣
I saw that too I was thinking either branches or a big green lizard was hanging out up there.😂😂
The one spot in the tone of the steam horn my dog howls, she howled today when it was going north.
It's steam whistle. Horns are airhorns and are usually on diesels but some steam locomotives had them.
I get the reference
Just watched it go by right after this was posted on way to Hillsdale. I think I'm going to film it if I can catch it going back to Edon today, or on way to Jonesville tomorrow.
I rode behind 765 in 1983. I'll never forget it.
I was wondering when we would see this happen.
I Can't Wait To See Her Pulling Excursions With Her Returned 90s 6 Chime Whistle! Oh I Wonder What Second Whistle Will 765 Wear On The The Second Whistle Valve?
YES
This gonna be good!!
Great post👍👍made my day...nickel plate fan since 1950... MN 🥶
Wow! I like the Nickel Plate Road, 765.
That’s dope! Looking forward to seeing 765 and 358 in action soon!
Oooooh, is there gonna be an excursion soon?
It’s the Tri state excursion. This weekend!
@@PeanutsAndSanrioFan Aight, thanks. Hoping they’re keeping her 90s whistle tuning for it.
@@ethanpiscitello188 they are!
Just watched it go by house going to Hillsdale. Tomorrow it's going to Jonesville
@@FjHenderson nice! I’m heading to Hillsdale as of this comment!

If there's a better modern-day historical video out there...I'd love to see it. Excellent narration and well written !!!
Steam's magical reign might be over, but it will never be forgotten. "Jim Wrinn"
59:27 BOURBON! 100 PROOF!
Mighty fine but it could never last.
Dear fort wayne, if possible after purchasing NKP 624, could you possibly restore it for operation? idk if you have the money, but its just my idea and my suggestion, its up to you to decide.
I'm jealous of her
Wow! Beautiful workmanship! Outstanding! 👍
To me, I may have to think that might be an emergency whistle
